Biography
Prof. Augustine O. Atonuje is a professor of mathematics in the Department of Mathematics at Delta State University, Abraka, Nigeria. During the 1992–1993 academic session, he earned a first-class degree in mathematics from Delta State University and began his career as a graduate assistant in mathematics on June 6, 1995. He earned his M.Sc. degree in mathematics from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, in 1999 and his Ph.D. in mathematics from the same university in 2010. His area of specialization is 'Stochastic Analysis and Application.
His other research interest is advanced algebra. Prof. Atonuje has written textbooks in abstract algebra and mathematical logic, as well as contributed chapters to textbooks in elementary calculus, vectors, and geometry. Prof. Atonuje has written over fifty research articles and supervised a lot of M.Sc. and Ph.D. students in mathematics. He has also served as an external examiner at many universities. Prof. Atonuje became the acting head of the Department of Mathematics from 2011 to 2020. In 2022, the Faculty of Science voted him Dean, and he is currently serving his second tenure as Dean. He currently serves as editor-in-chief of the Nigerian Journal of Science and Environment.
